Each year we guide a handful of expeditions for those ready for more action than most. Longer days, later nights, harder challenges, wilder adventures, more of everything. You don’t have to be an elite athlete, but you should be in good shape, and ready to pack your week full of action.

Our guides will be pouring on the options... pre-breakfast hikes, sea kayaking side trips, snorkelling instead of siestas, fishing, surfing, coconut tree climbing workshops, epic beach volleyball matches, extended kava sessions, paddling under the moon and stars.
Taking time out from the kayaking to enjoy a trek through the rain forest
It’s not a Vacation... It’s a Mission...

The basic route of the Classic Extreme is the same as that for the Kadavu Classic. Where it differs is the pace and range of options available. We overnight in the same places but the content of each day is somewhat different. For those hungry for adventure, this is a tropical feast!

The Classic Extreme is suitable for experienced sea kayakers, or the active sportspeople yet novice sea kayakers (tuition given). Adults (18 years plus) of good health and fitness.
Itinerary

Day One
After our 11am rendezvous at Fiji’s Nadi International Airport we fly to Kadavu aboard Sun Air, and travel onto Jona’s Paradise by boat. After settling into our accommodation there’ll be a chance for sea kayaking, snorkelling, volleyball or trekking, all before dinner.

Day Two
Sunrise diving or fishing anyone? After breakfast we’ll sea kayak out to the Great Astrolabe Reef, and enter a marine reserve for an unforgettable snorkelling experience. More kayaking after lunch with extra tuition in sea kayaking skills available. For experienced sea kayakers it can be a chance to brush up on rolling and rescue techniques, and maybe learn some new tricks from the guides. Time for another beach volley session back at the resort, or a hike up the hill to view the sunset.

Day Three
Another opportunity for scuba diving and fishing before breakfast, then a great day’s sea kayaking and snorkelling as we make our way around Ono island to Naqara Village. A detour out around some desert islands can be made by the fit ones in the group, while the others rest up before the village visit. At Naqara we’ll socialise with the villagers, sing and dance the night away, or maybe run around over the moonlit tidal flats catching the biggest crabs you’ve ever seen. You can even sleep.

Day Four
A fond farewell to the people of Naqara – perhaps you’ve been up since 5am with them catching fish, visiting the plantations or even baking bread. We kayak on around Ono, more snorkelling and a picnic along the way, and eventually complete the circumnavigation of the island. Back at Jona’s Paradise there’s time for a cold beer or a game of volleyball in the sunset before a well-earned dinner.

Day Five
Scuba divers and surfers can get out to the Great Astrolabe Reef this morning, the rest of us will breakfast and then kayak across the channel between Ono and Kadavu. More fantastic snorkelling, a picnic on a lovely beach, a paddle through a passage in the reef and beyond into the deep blue sea if conditions permit, before arriving at Matava Resort, a welcome sight at the end of a huge day.

Day Six
Today we take the best parts of the preceding 5 days and roll them all into 1. Kayak across turquoise lagoons, snorkel where we often see turtles, enjoy a village feast for lunch, trek through the rainforest, swim beneath a spectacular waterfall, then let the guides surprise you with what they have prepared for the final evening on expedition.

Day Seven
You’ll be forgiven for sleeping in, but for those still keen after breakfast, you can sea kayak towards Kadavu airport. Around mid-day you will be taken to the airport with the rest of the team. Farewell to the guides, and onto the plane. Mission accomplished!

Any expedition worthy of the name includes changeable elements. The weather and marine conditions, resort and village events, adjusted airline schedules, acts of God and other local deities and events beyond AdventureX’s control may from time to time inspire a change of itinerary. Rest Assured - the guides have the experience and local knowledge to ensure the best options will always be taken to maximise your safety and enjoyment.
