An expedition on the Franklin River is one of the only ways to truly experience the pristine beauty of Tasmania. This 12 day rafting expedition will introduce you to the soul of Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area as you paddle this exhilarating and challenging river through some of the region’s most spectacular gorges. From its headwaters in the alpine lakes of the Cheyne Range until its confluence with the Gordon River 130km later, you will see no permanent human habitation. The banks are lined by temperate rainforest punctuated by rock formations and small beaches. The air feels like the cleanest in the world.
The rapids are breathtaking and lively, the side-stream waterfalls and swimming holes are luxurious. With a stunning walk through lush vegetation to Frenchman's Cap, keeping an eye open for local platypus, this trip offers the best and certainly most enjoyable way to explore this unique wilderness. The Franklin River is one of the world’s great trips.
